Cheesy twists
General
Can be made the day before, if kept in an air tight container.
Ingredients
- Puff pastry squares (buy a packet)
- 1 egg, beaten well.
- Fresh or dried thyme leaves
- Parmesan cheese (finely grated)
Procedure
- Take the puff pastry squares from the package and allow them to thaw out for 5 minutes or so
- Preheat the oven to 210 celcius
- Coat half of puff pastry squares with beaten egg
- Sprinkle thyme over those same half the pastry squares, then the parmesan
- Put the other pastry squares on top of the first ones, pressing lightly (you do not want to squash the layers of butter inside the puff pastry square)
- Cut every pastry sandwich into 2 cm strips.
- Holding both ends, twist the strip in opposite directions, so they become a bit spirally. It does not have to be perfect.
- Bake immediately, for 10-15 minutes, until golden and puffy. If you leave them out too long, they won't rise.
