Garlicy green beans with sesam

Ingredients

Procedure

  1. Pour 1 cup water into the Instant Pot and arrange a steamer basket on the bottom. Add the green beans to the basket, making sure the beans don’t touch the water. Secure the lid and move the steam release valve to Sealing. Select Manual/Pressure Cook and cook at high pressure for 0 minutes (see this page).
  2. When the pot beeps and the screen reads L0:00, quickly release the pressure by moving the steam release valve to Venting. When the floating valve drops, remove the lid and press Cancel to stop the cooking cycle. Use oven mitts to remove the steamer basket full of beans and set them aside. Drain the water from the pot.
  3. Press Sauté and add the olive oil to the Instant Pot. Once the oil is hot but not smoking, add the garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir briefly, about 30 seconds, then add the steamed green beans and stir well to coat the beans in the fragrant oil, about 30 seconds more.
  4. Season with salt to taste (I use ½ teaspoon), and serve warm with a sprinkling of sesame seeds on top. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 5 days; they make a great chilled topping for salads.
